The People Behind Your Library

Joseph McKenzie began his directorship of the Library in 2020. A resident of Bernalillo since 2014, McKenzie's love of the City of Coronado is inspired by its glorious history complete with dramatic events, heroic protagonists, and long periods of peaceful collaboration among peoples whose descendants and traditions perdure to this day.

Within only three years, McKenzie transformed the library into one of Sandoval County's premier venues for arts, culture, and education, earning the coveted New Mexico Library Association's Community Achievement Award. He attributes his success to a culturally sophisticated Town of Bernalillo administration and governing body that believe in the Library's ability to enhance the quality of life of our community.

Born and raised in Bernalillo. I want to help our community find the resources they need to learn, grow and get to where you need to go. I have my Masters Degree in Library and Information Sciences and I specializes in creating programs that bring further knowledge and information to the people I serve. I love the cultures that are here and want to make sure to protect and preserve these rich traditions.

Caitlin brings energy and creativity to our children's programs. With a background in STEM and museum education, she designs engaging activities that make learning fun for kids of all ages.

Working at the library has been an incredible blessing. Giving back to the community I was born and raised in. I enjoy seeing the generations of families come in and reminisce with them about what the library was and currently is.
